I am an experienced, qualified and registered Humanistic Gestalt Counsellor and, as such, will encourage and facilitate self-awareness by working with you as a whole person - mind, emotions and bodily sensations. Raising awareness is paramount because with awareness comes choice. I can use a variety of methods to suit your needs.
I consider the relationship between us of fundamental importance and will work collaboratively with you. In line with my own values and in accordance with my Professional Body, I regard being trustworthy as a serious ethical commitment.
I spent several years at a charitable counselling service in Winchester where I worked with a diverse range of adults, providing both short-term and long-term counselling. I helped clients with a variety of difficulties, in particular managing and then exploring their anxiety, supporting them through loss, bereavement and other challenging life events, gaining clarity around relationship issues and ultimately empowering the client.
I was also a support worker with the Chrysalis transgender organisation in Fareham. This experience enabled me to have a good understanding of the challenges that face individuals with gender dysphoria who may be considering transitioning. Offering an empathic, accepting and non-judgemental relationship was of paramount importance.
Although this list is not exhaustive, I work with the following:
- Low self-esteem/low self-confidence
- Low mood
- Loss and bereavement
- Relationship difficulties
- Work related issues
- Life changes
